A separate till next to your order kiosk, QR ordering and menu boards means keeping your products and prices up to date twice. The Narrow.TV point of sale uses the same products as the rest of the platform. You need no special till hardware: a tablet or PC with a browser is enough.
How to get started
- Create a register in the dashboard.
- Open pos.narrow.tv in the browser on the tablet or PC you want to use as the register, or install the Narrow.TV POS app: from Google Play on an Android tablet or register, or on a Linux or Windows PC with the installer you request through support.
- Pair the device with the code from the dashboard.
- Log in with your PIN. Every staff member has their own PIN, so you can see who handled which sale.
Checking out
Add products with one tap on the product buttons, per category, or scan the barcode with a USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner. Options such as size or sauce are chosen in the product. Then take payment:
- Cash: enter the amount received and the register calculates the change.
- Card: link your own account with a payment provider such as Stripe, Mollie, Viva.com or Adyen, and the register sends the amount to your card terminal itself and waits for the payment. Without a link you enter the amount on your card terminal yourself and confirm the payment in the register.
- Split: part in cash and part by card.
Open orders from Scan & Order and the kiosk
Did a customer order through Scan & Order or the Instore Order Kiosk and choose to pay later? Then the order is waiting in the register. You settle it at the counter and it disappears from the list of open orders.
Receipts, refunds and cash movements
- Receipts are printed straight to a receipt printer with the Narrow.TV POS app, or through the browser's print function.
- Refunds are booked as counter-entries. The original sale stays in place, so everything can be traced.
- Cash in and cash out: record when you add change to the drawer or take money out.
POS app for Android, Linux and Windows: printing, cash drawer and customer display
The free Narrow.TV POS app is available for Android, Linux and Windows. On an Android tablet or register you install Narrow.TV POS from Google Play; for a Linux or Windows PC you request the installer through support. It is the same register as in the browser, with a few things a browser cannot do:
- Print receipts without a print dialog, on 58 or 80 mm paper.
- Cash drawer that opens by itself on a cash payment (connected to the receipt printer).
- Customer display on a second screen, such as the built-in second screen of registers like Sunmi.
Which receipt printers you can use depends on the platform:
- Android: network printers (Wi-Fi or cable) with ESC/POS, such as the Epson TM series; USB printers connected to the tablet; Bluetooth printers, paired in Android first; and the built-in printers of Sunmi registers and IPOS handhelds.
- Linux: network receipt printers, USB receipt printers and printers installed in Linux (CUPS).
- Windows: network receipt printers. A USB receipt printer installed in Windows prints through the normal Windows print dialog.
You set the printer, paper size and cash drawer in the app. To open the settings, hold the bottom-left corner of the screen for 3 seconds.
X and Z reports
The X report shows how the day is going at any moment. At the end of the day you close with the Z report: revenue per VAT rate and per payment method, and the difference between the cash that should be in the drawer and what you count.
Recorded so it cannot be changed
Every sale is stored in a journal secured with a hash chain, so it cannot be changed. Editing or deleting a receipt afterwards is not possible; corrections are always a new entry. This helps you keep your till records in line with the Dutch tax retention rules.
Staff and overview in the dashboard
- Staff log in with their own PIN and have the role of cashier or manager.
- In the dashboard you see the sales, the daily reports and your staff.
- The register itself works in six languages: Dutch, English, German, French, Spanish and Turkish.
One set of products for the whole platform
The register sells from the products in your dashboard: the same products, product options, VAT rates and stock as your order kiosk, Scan & Order and digital menu boards. Change a price and it is correct everywhere at once.
For hospitality and retail
The register suits a lunchroom, café, takeaway or restaurant, as well as a shop where you ring up products with a barcode scanner. Combine it with the kiosk and Scan & Order, or use it on its own.
Available in the Netherlands
For now the register is only available to businesses in the Netherlands, because the tax rules for registers differ per country. Other countries will follow.
Connect your own systems with the Narrow.TV API
Fetch receipts, Z reports and the daily revenue per VAT rate and payment method for your accounting, or keep products and stock in sync with your web shop. The API is included. Read more about the Narrow.TV API.

Frequently asked questions
What equipment do I need?
A tablet or PC with a modern browser, or a device with the Narrow.TV POS app: an Android tablet or register (from Google Play), or a Linux or Windows PC. A barcode scanner (USB or Bluetooth), a receipt printer and a cash drawer are optional. With the app you print straight to the receipt printer; in the browser you print through the print function.
Is the register connected to my card terminal?
Yes, if your card terminal is from a supported payment provider such as Stripe, Mollie, Viva.com or Adyen. You link your own account in the dashboard and the register then sends the amount to the card terminal itself. With another card terminal you enter the amount on it yourself and record the payment in the register as a card payment.
Can I settle Scan & Order and kiosk orders at the register?
Yes. Orders where the customer chose to pay later are shown as open orders in the register. You settle them there, in cash, by card or split.
In which countries can I use the register?
For now only in the Netherlands, because the tax rules for registers differ per country. Other countries will follow.
Can I change or delete a sale afterwards?
No, and that is intentional. Every sale is stored so it cannot be changed. A refund or correction is booked as a counter-entry, so it is always clear what happened.
Is there an app for the register?
Yes. The free Narrow.TV POS app is available for Android, Linux and Windows. On Android tablets and registers you install it from Google Play; for Linux and Windows you request the installer through support. You pair it with the same pairing code as in the browser. The app prints receipts directly, opens the cash drawer and shows a customer display on a second screen. On an iPad, or on a PC without the app, you use the register in the browser.
Which receipt printers work with the register?
With the Android app: network printers with ESC/POS (such as the Epson TM series), USB and Bluetooth printers and the built-in printers of Sunmi registers and IPOS handhelds, on 58 or 80 mm paper. With the Linux app: network and USB receipt printers and printers installed in Linux (CUPS). With the Windows app: network receipt printers, and a USB receipt printer installed in Windows through the normal Windows print dialog. A cash drawer is connected to the receipt printer. In the browser you print on any printer your tablet or computer knows, through the browser's print function.
